Is there a way to edit the aspect ratio? If I want to take a 2:35:1 DVD and rencode the movie file to a more compliant 16:9 ratio, how would one go about it? I just want to trim the blackbars off the video and let it fill the entire widescreen area- If I lose a little on the sides, thats ok. I just want to be able to retain my 5.1 sound.

to commit this act of butchery, you will have to resize the video. Demux the video and audio to seperate files. Load the video into virtualdubmpeg-2, resize it to fill the screen (heathen *spit*), reencode the video then remux the audio back in.
And may the gods of cinema have mercy on your soul.Read my blog here.
