Hello,
I'm starting this rumor myself. With all the changes made in the special edition Star Wars it's hard to believe there won't be more. It's been rumored that Lucas will return the Han Solo shoots first bit in the Cantina (only time will tell). There have been others that he will add Padme (Portman) and replace Christen in the family death scene at the end of Return of the Jedi.
Will he replace the yoda puppet with a digital yoda in Empire and ROTJ??? Who knows. He's got enough money to do it. He would be crazed enough to add every ENHANCEMENT he could think of.
Personally I don't really care. I just want the dvds. I can't wait for September 21st!!!!!!!!!

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
-
I agree. I am going to buy the special editions. Given the fact that yoda was digital in atoc, he might make him that way in the special editions.
-
Hello,
Gitreel - Yep. Also, there was a quote from some management type at ILM (or Lucasfilm, not sure) that said fans would have to see the dvds themselves when asked if there would be any further changes. That sounds mighty suspicious to me. Must be something big in the works to not say they are the same as the 97 special editions. Who knows??? It'll be fun having them either way.

Well, if he says they're just like the 97 edition, how many people do you think anyone will really buy it? I doubt Yoda will be digital. But I guess we will find out pretty soon.

There is a fairly credible list of changes floating around out there. Some minor edits, alot of dialogue redubbed (all stormtroopers, some Palpatine) and Vader's unmasked face is going to be modifed to better match Haden's. These things have been confirmed by Lucas. As for Padme's ghost being added, that was debunked a long time ago. Lucas specifically said that was a rumor, and a stupid one at that. The addition of Haden's ghost, though, is still a possibility.

Hello,
Isn't neat though that Star Wars isn't dead??? Just think if it died with Return of the Jedi??? I can't imagine how empty the movie world would be without it. And the controversy over the prequels!! (which I like by the way!).

Meesa says the only redeeming quatilty of TPM was the pod race, but meesa like atoc.

There is still potential to have continuing sequels made, as well. There are enough Star Wars books made of continuing effort that it's only a matter of time before they start making movies about the Rebirth of the Jedi and the Ghost of the Sith.

Hello,
Indo - The originals will get out. I can't imagine Lucas wouldn't like the opportunity to make even MORE money!!!

Hello,
I was in blockbuster Sunday and I caught the last half of the promo for the Star Wars DVDs. WOW! I can't wait for the 21st. It is going to be fun. The commentary alone is worth it. I saw they got Peter Jackson do a little interviewing on the bonus disc (I wonder if he ASKED to be in it??? a little envy perhaps??). Anyway here's hoping the sound will be perfect (with THX of course that's a realistic execatation).

Is that the movie with the guys all dressed in white, that were like space cops or something? -
Hello,
Northcat - get real.

You want to see a decently played parody on StarWars? See if you can find TROOPS to download. It's kindda funny.
-
Hello,
Doramius - I already have troops. Not bad at all. The only Star Wars parody I have liked in fact.

If you want something to laugh and throw the pillow at, get the StarWars Holiday Special. That wasn't meant to be a parody.
-
Well I am going to be ready to get these as soon as they come out ....although I alredy have made some from the old laser disc.
-
The series would have been best if Lucas had never made them in the first place

You forgot to add in the cost of bootleg DVDs of StarWars spin offs and related movies. (IE: ewoks movies, Holiday Special, StarWars Auditions, and supplemental materials made for and related to the first 2 movies (IV & V) all in the unremastered formats.

I can sense a disturbance in the force that will result in me being flamed for this but...
I actually like the SE editions.... there I said it!!
In fact I think a few more things should be "updated"
Let's talk X-wing cockpits - for a fighter that's supposed to be the top of it's class, it looks pretty old and crappy inside, lets see a new all digital display system and holographic targeting system.
The "skirmish" when the Falcon espaced from the Death Star, 4 fighter?!?!? Common give me a break - there should have been at least 3x as many fighters and they could have used the new digital models like they did at the end Death Star battle.
Let's re-do the entire speeder bike chase - some parts of that looked really flat and the similar camera angles really smacked of stationary studio shots - oh wait they WERE!!! Let's get some great camera panning action shots like in APN pod race.
There's more I would like to see changed - but I can't remember tonight
Flame away -
Hello,
D_Knife - You the man!!!
I love Star Wars and any changes sanctioned by Lucas are ok with me. I'd love more tie fighters. The speeder bikes were ok.
