I got lots of things. It's passing it on to other's that's the trick. I've only been testing safely with gas, and some think that's volatile.![]()

Hello,
They had a Star Wars Media Day yesterday. Check out www.dvdtalk.com. It's blocked here at work so I can't post any quotes. It should be fun. ONE MORE WEEK!

I ordered mine through DeepDiscountDVD.com for $41.88 with Free Shipping. They just shipped it via Regular Post today expecting it to arrive on or around the available street date. I'm hoping it arrives Saturday or Monday, but the way mail goes it probably will be here Tues. or Wed. Yee-Haw!!

Hello,
Good luck. I'm going to pick up my widescreen set on the way home from work!
Kevin
EDIT - Next Tuesday the 21st of course!Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
My largest screen is 32", but I 'BORROW' a projector from work every so often and watch a few good movies with. Next weekend will be a marathon party. I have a very good intuition these DVDs will break records for sales. I doubt very many people will be trying to bootleg download them off of the internet. The collection will hold more value to people and I feel will be more desiring than a crappy DL. The price doesn't seem bad either.

Surround sound is probably more important than screen size when watching a Lucas film. Having anything larger than a 19" screen is just icing on the cake. The larger and more clear the picture is like getting more of the better tasting frosting. We have a nice surround system at home. The neighbors would probably complain about it normally, but since when we crank the sound, they are usually over watching with us, there haven't been any problems.
-
Hello,
You have nice neighbors!
Yeah Lucas movies need the BIG BOOM! I love the Indy Dvd set. That was an excellent transfer. I expect the Star Wars discs to be at LEAST as good as those. My 50 watt sub could be more powerful but it's on a wood floor over a full basement!Lots of rumble!
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
To stop a lot of bad rubmble, get large and soft rubber feet. If it's near a wall, put rubber feet on the back in case it moves towards an object and touches. It's not the best for looks, but it helps limit rumbling. If you have good quality surround/sattelite speakers, then they won't rumble naturally unless they're blown. Don't mount them solid to anything. Hang small ones from the ceiling with semi-heavy test fishing line (lessens the sight of strings holding the speakers). If it's mounted to a wall, limit the speaker's contact to the wall. It probably hangs on 1 or 2 screws. If there are any other points of the speaker that touch the wall, place soft rubber feet to separate it. You want the speaker to vibrate naturally and move to the regular sounds it is producing. You don't want to hear the rattling of it against a wall, table, etc. A basement may be an excellent place for accoustics with a surround sounds system.
If you are in a room above the basement, you might be able to improve your accoustics with extremely simple home improvement. If you have an open ceiling in your basement, gets tons of corrugated cardboard. There will be spacing for optional insulation. There may be insulation there already. If there is insulation there already, carefully take it down. You don't have to go to this extreme, but it's good if you have a damp basement; Spray paint or lightly paint a mold proofing or retardant on both sides of the cardboard lightly. Once dry, Staple gun the cardboard about 2-3 (criscrossing the layers)layers thick making sure it fits tightly or a few millimeters too wide between the main beams. You want very few, if any, open holes. Once done, replace your insulation or add it if you didn't have it before. You've just made your floor, to the room above, accoustically better. You may also find it's slightly cheaper to maintain the room's teperature, for some people.

Hello,
Wow! Doramius - You don't have to go to that trouble for me. I was just saying I like the rumble! My sub is in good shape. Thanks for the advice though!

No problem. It allows others to know. I did this setup back in NY because I had a basement there. Here in NV, practically none of the houses have basements. I have a degree in Broadcasting Communications, so I know a little bit about accoustics. I know how to get rid of old window & door rattle, if putting in a modern sound system to an old house, too.

Hello,
Kevin
Me wants it!Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I think my branch got it at tigerdirect.com. It's not cheap though.

Weird resolution for NTSC users. $1600 isn't exactly a lot of money, either...

It's what my company has, and it's cheaper than buying my own. :P

Hello,
What's the first thing your going to do with your dvd set?
1. Rip them open and start watching Episode 4
2. Seal them in your Star Wars case and open your EXTRA set and IMMEDIATELY back them up (and use only the backups)
3. Start watching Episodes 1 and 2 so you can go 1-6 minus episode 3.
4. Go straight to the bonus disc and watch the episode 3 preview.
5. Put them on your Star Wars altar, do a dance and then watch them.
--------------------------------
I'm going to do number 1! Watch it in 5.1 surround sound!
