  1. Folks,

In my continuing support for all formats of DVD. I have added a much requested bitsetting compatibility for BENQ DW400A and DW800A drives.

This version is as yet unreleased and I need some testers. Spaces are limited to act now.

The bitsetting for BENQ is very comprehensive and contains both +R / +RW default modes, and Direct altering of +RW disks immediately.

    cheers

DVD-Rs will NOT work with your burner (see https://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDname=benq+dw400a&Submit=Search&cdrs=&cdrws=...&Search=Search)

BenQ has put out firmware updates to allow some of its 8x +R drives to burn -R discs, but I'm not sure if they'd done anything for the DW400. My only other suggestion would be drawing a vertical line through the - on the disc, but something tells me that won't work either.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

  7. Has anyone tried Benq's own bitsetting utility called "book-type management"? I've used it with both an 800a and 822a drive with no problems.

  8. I bought a BenQ 16 DVD writer from futureshop about 3 weeks ago I couldn't get it to write or read certain media, the same media that works great on my LG's, I took it back no help from tech suport or their web site.

That Benq will not work with most -R media. A friend bought one with his $5K system and found out the hard way that it likes +R media only. Benq/Philips should be shot over that drive...
