  1. I am looking to rip a home movie DVD to the AVI (full DV) format but I cannot find any info in it.

If there a guide / software out there? I have searched the forums but cannot find anthing but DVD to divx.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

Divx is AVI. If you want it uncompressed you could use virtualdubmpeg2 and select video-uncompressed.

you can choose for the avi to be encoded as xvid or divx and it is incredibly straightforward to use

you will also need dvddecrypter to rip the vobs off the dvd onto your harddrive

He wants UNCOMPRESSED AVI not DIVX! That's why he should use virutaldubmpeg2 and choose video-uncompressed.

It looks to me as if he wants DV format, though that is not certain.

The methods for doing this are largley the same as ripping it to divx, just select the codec of your choice at the appropriate stage. If you want DV format, try the free panansonic DV codec and virtualdub_mod.
