Rip dvd to divx with 5.1 audio? to use with PS3

Could anyone please help me out with this issue i am having?

What i would like is rip my dvd movies and tv programmes to store on a HDD so i can watch them through my PS3 on the big screen ( so i can put away my dvd collection and have everything in one place). Now the PS3 can only support mp4, divx and wmv files.

What i would like to do is rip a dvd and keep a high quality picture but also (if the dvd supports it) keep the 5.1 surround sound.

I was wondering if this is at all possible? and if it can be done using a wmv file as i could take my hdd to my friends house and watch any movie through his xbox 360.

Could someone point me in the right direction of a programme that i would need to do this and any info of how i would go about this

AutoGK will give you Divx and can be told to keep the original audio. There is a caveat - I believe it will only do so for file sizes greater than 350 MB.

However you can always rip the disc, convert the video and mux in the AC3 audio afterwards if necessary.
