  1. Hello all,

Just moved to the DVD Realm from the VCD world, so basically I know the jist of things, ASPI, media issues etc. However, just purchased a brand new Artec 12x DVD+RW / 8x DVD-RW / 40x CDRW Unit for $66.00USD which is very sweet!

Anyways, downloaded DVD Shrink and burned 2 ISOs to FujiFilm 4x +r with DVD Decryptor & Nero 6 ....Perfect! Did up two different ones but burned them to Wally World Special's Durabrand 4x -r and there was a considerable amount of freezing (pausing kinda but no artifacts etc) close to the last 15 mins or so of the movie.

Figured HEY its gotta be the media (cheap media=cheap results...go figure), but when I burned the same two ISOs to the Durabrand's with Alcohol 120% I had a perfect results. Any ideas why?

Same methods were used each time, no av running / min processes running blah blah blah and my system is more then enuff to handle the job.... Only thing I could figure was maybe some bad disc in the cakebox, but each and everytime I burn with DVD Decryptor or Nero 6 to the Durabrand's I get the freezing, take the next one off the stack and burn with 120% and never a problem.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sabro

PS. DVDInfoPro shows the Durabrands with a Media ID of ' CMC MAG. AF1 ' and no visible write errors. The DVD Shrink ISOs are reauthored Movie only with everything but English tracks etc stripped.

Disc(s) have been tried in multiple players from a PS2 to Sony, JVC, etc and either they are good or bad on all of em.

Cheap media often means "inconsistent quality" more than anything else. So some discks might be fine all the way out to the edge, some start "cracking up" at the 4 GB mark. I try to keep close to 4 GB when using "not top quality" discs to avoid trouble.
