    Hello,

    Anyone use this device? Its inexpensive and I'd like to try to transfer my home hi8's to DVD. I dont want to use the packaged software, so if anyone has tried this device using other available software please let me know, also quality.

    Not sure with this new model but I have the big brother M402U which is a great MPEG2 hardware device.

    Thanks, good enough for me, Im going to try it at $63.00. This device is just straight through though, RCA to USB converter, so whatever quality is on the tapes I'll just run through TMPG and see what happens.

    In case anyone is interested, this device works great. Captured from hi8, as avi, ran it through tmpg and tmpgdvd author. Great.
