Apologies if this is not the 'done' thing, but I'm desperate:
Basically when I try to capture from camcorder it freezes the computer.
Once I shut down the capture prog everything is ok again
Tried with videostudio 8 and Windows movie maker.
uninstalled and reinstalled cam and firewire driver.
I just need to eliminate a few possibilities - firewire, cable, camcorder.
Is there anybody kind enough to offer me a helping hand with this. I just want to try my camcorder on a different computer/firewire and see if the problem is the same, so I can at least eliminate that before the warrenty runs out.
I live near sheffield and work near Goole. I know this is an unusual request but my DV tapes of my little boy are stacking up and my wife has lost all sympathy for my plight (having ruined our bank holiday weekend trying to solve the problem).
Hoping to hear from somebody who might help.
Chris

What firewire card and camcorder do you have?
At what stage do you get a freeze?
Is it when you connect your camcorder or when you hit 'capture'?
Try (the free) and report back
