was wondering if anyone's here has successfully burned a dual layered disc with this drive? i am having problems burning a Dual Layered disc. it is a ridata 2.4x DL disc that was included.
i get an error message from nero saying that this type of disc is not compatible or something to that effect.
i thought it might have been the drivers as i have also posted another question about this same problem.
this time i have installed the drive onto my dell tower PC, a P2 400MHZ PC running windows XP professional edition.
i am still unable to burn a DVD+R DL disc...what am i doing wrong???
is the drive malfunction? should i return it?
what am i missing? why is it so hard to get this damn thing to work? it works somewhat but not really...at least the DL part doesn't work or 2x media...

Do you have the latest version of Nero? What firmware do you have on the 108?
-
i have nero 6 ultra edition, i have not downloaded the latest updates and the firmware version for my burner is 1.10

You're Ok with the Pioneer. Try updating Nero and see what happens.

There was major bugs with the earlier versions of Nero with regards to DVD-Video creation that gave some of the errors you describe
I've finally given up on Nero for DVD-Video creation as I got sick and fed up of the various minor annoyances it had, and now use DVD Deceypter to burn DVD-Video as a disc image, I don't get ANY problems with pausing, stuttering or freezing discs anymore, and I only use Rotek G04, good quality media, same stuff I've been using for ages
I can't see how changing burning software can cure the problems, but it has, so I'm happier, but not with Nero -
i didn't know u can burn with dvd decrypter. i thought all dvd decrypter does is remove the CSS copy protection. maybe i'm missing something here.
i am not switching to another dvd authoring program, i am updating nero...if that'll work. never had problems with nero, till i upgraded to a dual layered dvd burner. -
I hope its Nero, I just ordered the Pioneer 108 a couple of seconds ago...lol

it definitely is. it works. make sure u update nero. i don't know if your drive includes nero, mine did. full version too.
the ultimate test is to see if it'll playback on my Sony dvd player. -
I have the Pioneer A08 & have burned 3 dual layered discs & it played on everything I've tested it on including a 7 year old Sony DVD player. I burned with decrypter.

that's fantastic...decrypter can burn dvd's? not just remove the copy protection??? i have to look into that.
