  2. Have they figured a way for me to be able to watch one channel and record another?

I don't know if they have a TiVo with a dual-tuner option. Depending on what you're recording, I'd think you could just split the signal before it gets to the TiVo and then watch whatever you want on your TV. Just route the signal from your TiVo to one input on your TV and a direct signal from the other.

  4. The article mentions the rebate is also available for TIVO products manufactured by Toshiba, Pioneer, etc,. I wonder if that means you can apply the rebate against the Pioneer DVD recorder with the Tivo harddrive.

It would seem so. The rebates are usually for setting up the TiVo service, so even if it wasn't a TiVo branded product you could still be eligible.

DirectTivo through Direct TV. You can record two programs at once... Or record one while "instant replay" what your watching.

I don't know about DirecTV, but I know with Dish Network there are two different models of basic DVR. One is a single tuner and allows you to watch one already recorded program while recording another. The higher model is a dual tuner and allows you to watch one live show and record one live show.

  11. I have a DirecTV receiver w/ Tivo and it has 2 tuners so you can watch one thing and record another or record 2 things at the same time. I've had it for more than a year now.
