i need a fast program that can adjust brightness/contrast of my vcd/mpeg1 movies... im currently using tmpgenc with brightness/contrast adjustment but it's quite slow in encoding and applying the brightness/contrast adjustment...any faster program?

or virtualdubmod frame served to any fast encoder

Not sure about Mainconcept, but here is a general frameserving guide for Vdub. https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm

i've read the guide, and i was able to frame serve virtualdubmod to mainconcept tnx a lot guys

Great! I have to admit I never tried it with Mainconcept. Good to know for the future that it works.

Taken from my today's task:
Procoder 2 : 8 hrs 16 min estimated encoding time (not mastering quality, used what they call "highest quality" which is less then mastering) vs.
Mainconcept 1.4 : 2 hrs. 8 min.
same piece, same settings (PAL DVD 4.5 k avg, 6.5 max, 1 pass VBR).
Take the procoder route, don't forget to have a gallon of coffee nearby. You're gonna need it. -
unless you have a warez copy of procoder 2 , procoder 2 is extremly fast ... even in mastering settings, 2 pass vbr on a dual xeon system ..
you must have some problem with your setup as it is at least 2x faster than tmpgenc in highest quality mode ...
mc and cce 2 pass are still faster yet though .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Never provided Tmpeg results so your reaction is premature. Just have it do some work and compare the time required. No warez at my workplace (what a blatant and rude comment!, don't do it again!).

BS! Don't try to lie your way out of this. You directly suggested that I use warez (for lack of a better argument). Now I expect that you strike your own bullshit post.

Not that you DO HAVE a copy ...
Just settle down - and don't be so defensive."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
I don't think any of them are "fast" in regards to filters. If you want fast, filter with a proc amp at capture.

@jimmalenko
Isn't it funny how people react when warez is mentioned ?
If you have a legal bought copy, what do you have to worry about ?
Generally the people who get most defensive and reactive about warez are those who have them

I didn't see the intent from BJ_M. He was merely suggesting that in the past, warez copies can have issues. There was no inference that you have said warez copy.

thats why i posted such a comment and no other reason ... nothing misleading and to 99% of the rest of the population, apparantly not provocative.
you could use a traité de savoir-vivre et netiquette yourself ..
also - in both my experience and many others, procoder 2 is very fast, many reports there and elsewhere about this (including here)."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
it also has superb quality and does extremly good PAL <-> NTSC conversions
you can get the same encoding engine in express - though express doesnt have mastering mode and many of the other extra features .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
PAL/NTSC conversion is good but not great (object edges are softer and fuzzy) . As to the speed it's been widely posted that Procoder takes over 2x (up to 4x) longer then MC 1.4. Just post your results for a specific encode and I will try to verify it (in comparison to MC).
This is an excerpt from VideoSystems review:
From my tests, there's little value in upgrading to ProCoder 2 for speed increases. I did measure speed improvements using ProCoder 2, but generally they were less than 5 percent compared with ProCoder 1.2 rather than 1.5.
Since they disagree with your point of view the only conclusion is:
They must have been running a warez copy of Procoder!
So much for the myth of great speed of Procoder 2 that you are actively buiding for some time on this forum.
Have you noticed that you cannot find any encoding speed comparisons on Canopus website even though they were posted up to ver. 1.5. Since there were so many users complaining about its speed the expectation was that with the release of the new ver. it will be improved. Instead, all references to Procoder speed that were on their website have been removed (I'm unable to find any).
One more point, as opposed to the version you are trying to proliferate the (accepted) advantage of procoder over some competitors is not overall quality but rather low-bitrate encodes quality where it seems to do a really good job. In the 6.5k Mbits and above its advantage is an expensive myth rather then reality.
If jimmalenko's appearence here counts as 99% of population in your opinion then we have a little problem. You plus 99% and we have a complete population -
Everyone knows that, including the remaining 1 %.
Btw. don't vote in November. One vote of yours and we're done. -
I agree with the assessment of PAL <-> NTSC.
This is by far one of the top performers in terms of encoders.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
