  1. Okay, I bought a DVD player recently and the video and most of the audio work BUT the voices don't seem to working. I mean their mouths are flapping but no sound. The strange thing is that all of the background sounds e.g. footsteps, doors closing, car engine, etc... all work just fine. I also get some voice over sound. The DVD player I bought was the DV-656 A from Pioneer. They conveniently have made themselves unavailable except via email so I've yet to find a solution.

Any thought as to my dilemma.

    Thanks,
    Gary

On every disk, or just one in particular ?
Are you running audio out through an amp ?
If so, is it a digital connection ?

I haven't heard of anything like this unless
    a. Some disks have sound effects only audio tracks as a feature (e.g. Monsters Inc)
    b. You have a loose or missing connection somewhere, causing a drop out of the centre speaker (this is the main dialogue speaker).

Those are the two things I would be checking first.

  3. Good questions.

It happens with many DVDs but other work just fine.

I am running it through a modulator.

    WAIT....

    I literally just fixed it!

I thought I had changed it from 5.1 to 2 channel but I guess I had to set it up in more than one area. Oh well. I thought it seemed a bit weird. When you said center speaker, I remember noticing a "speaker funtion as well. Seems weird that it wasn't in the audio area.

    Thanks for the tips.
