  1. After extracting tracks from dvd's then demuxing the vob's to mpv and ac3 files and then importing into a dvdlab project that dvdlab has problems packetizing some of those ac3 tracks. well after many many different attempts to correct these ac3 problems i found a nice method to ensure that all of your ac3 files are perfect. here goes:

    1. extract your dvd's with smart ripper, great program as we all know.

    2. use RiverPast Audio Converter http://riverpast.com/ another nice program and add all the vob files into it, export your vob's as wav files into a seperate folder.

    3. use a wav normalizing program (if desired) a good one is WavNormalizer http://www.linearteam.dk and you can batch process all wav's at one time into a seperate folder.

    4. open dvdlab and drop your vob files into the assets bin and let them demux. it will create the mpv files as well as ac3 files, go back to the original folder were they demuxed and delete ALL the ac3 files 'cause you won't need them.

    5. open a program called ffmpegGUI and you can now convert all of your nicely normalized wav into perfect ac3 files!

    6. now you have all the mpv and ac3 files to throw into dvdlab without any problems.

i hope this helps some of you out there! it works great for me...

  2. Just a warning; the free AC3 encoder tools aren't 100% compliant; they may make slightly invalid AC3 audio that fails to play in some (esp. Pioneer) players.

You can save yourself $30 on the riverfast program by using dvd2avi to convert your vobs to ac3 files and using besweet to convert from ac3 to wav.

  4. Funny, I've never had an AC3 problem in DVDLab. Interesting.
