  1. I have an mpeg clip that behaves kind of strangely. I am not going to edit this clip in any editor software, but when i watch it with BSplayer or Media player, it only plays for around 50 seconds, although the file is around 300 megs (and maybe 30 minutes).

The strange thing is that the progress bar moves over all of its area during these 52 seconds so iit is really as if the clip would be only a few megabytes.
GSpot says the clip is mpeg, and pretty much nothing more.
Is there any software to "straighten out" corrupt files with, without really recompressing? Just hoping ...

Oh, and i can basicly see most of the scenes from the file by just clicking in the progress bar, but still, i can only watch continuously for around 50 seconds. But i can watch different parts of the whole 30 minutes.

    peace

It sounds like the file is well and truely cactus if you can't get more than 50 seconds at a time regardless of where you start playing. Have a look a this one - it seems to have the best feedback from users. https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=209#comments

First of all, i really like that expression. Second, i tried "fixing" the file with your suggested program but the problem remained although i think the filesize changed a small bit.
I must say that i download lots and lots and lots of mpegs, so i've pretty much seen all kinds of problems, but this one was new for me.

    thanks for your suggestion!
