Question about burning DiVX

Im new to the burning avi files. I have burned many mpgs in vcd and svcd format. I heard that you can fit multiple divx movies on a dvdr by extracting the mpg with isobuster and just burning the mpg? I tried this in Nero as a SVCD but the format was incorrect. Will this method only work by burning as a data disc for a Divx standalone player?

Yes, most (all?) of the newer DivX compatible DVD players will play standalone mpeg1, mpeg2 and divx encoded avi files.

Burn as a 'Data Disc', not DVD-Video.

I should have made my post more clear. I want to extract the mpg from the avi file using isobuster, burn with nero and play on my standalone which does not support divx. Is that possible without conversions?

There isn't an mpg inside of an avi to extract.
I think you have to convert it.

An avi can be made using one of many different types of audio and video compression types, but not mpeg as far as I know. If you want an mpeg from an avi you will have to convert.
