has anybody had any success burning 4X DVD-R media at 8X on either a lite on 812, or an 812@832?? i have tried Maxell which is MXL and verbatim which is MCC but no luck. i do get good burns at 4X but would like 8X if possible. i am using the fiemware from code63556 presently.
thanks---dave

Sorry, I assumed you were buying new media and not using up old stock. My bad.Originally Posted by DVDDave
Hopefully someone with a Lite-On will contribute. Personally, I'm a fan of sticking with the speed rating on the disc (4x for 4x, 8x for 8x).
Good Luck,

not too many will help you with that here. You may try cdfreaks.com or speedlabs.org.

I've had no problems burning MCC 002 at 8x on the 812S/812@832S, using patched firmware. It, along with RICOHJPNR01 burn at 8x beautifully. MXL 4x +R is always Ricoh (in the US anyway), as is Fujifilm. Sony and TDK 4x +R is usually Ricoh too, and Memorex is sometimes (not consistently though).Originally Posted by DVDDave
As for 4x -R at 8x, I wouldn't recommend it on the Lite-On. Heck, I wouldn't even recommend 8x at 8x on it; it isn't the best -R burner. Lite-On burners favor +R in my experience.
