  1. I know that a TV crops out some parts of a movie. The anime I download are japanese and a group translated them (subtitles, of course). When I make a DVD with the anime, the subtitles are cut out. What do I do to make the movie fit perfectly to the screen of my TV without cutting out anything?

Buy the DVDs from a retail store (if available).

Otherwise, do a search for overscan.

  3. yeah, I read your post... The anime I download is currently airing in Japan, so I can't buy it here. the way I download the anime is using BitTorrent* and that's a legal program.

Okay, so now I know what the size of my movie should be so that there won't be any more cropping. With TMPGenc, I used the "Center (custom size)" Video arrange Method and it worked!

I just want to know one more thing now: Is there another (better) way of doing this?

*In case you don't know, BitTorrent is a program that allows us to download huge files off a web site by sharing. And on those web sites, they don't have licenced anime. In other words, anything you download on those web sites cannot be bought here in America

  4. it really depends on the size of the original avi file.

  5. The problem of course is that your anime files are improperly subtitled for TV. Hard subtitles are supposed to stay away from the edges of the video to avoid being cut off by the overscan.

The devil is in the details, but basically you'll need to add about 16 pixels of padding around the all edges of your anime.

BitTorrent may be legal, but the files you are downloading are not, even if they are not showing in your country. Unless the site you are downloading them from owns the copyright to these programs, and is allowing free download under this copyright arrangement, the files you are discussing fall under the banner of warez.
