  1. Ok, I let's say I have a 10 second clip in Video 1a.
I can open that 10 second clip in the Source Window (left window), but I can't drag it from there and under Video 1a into Video 1b. It wasn't like that in Adobe Premiere 5.0. I don't know if I have a some setting enabled that I should turn off, or vice versa. And when I try fiddling around with transitions that I DO get working, it starts resizing and moving around the video itself. What's going on??

Basically, it seems I can't have the same clip both in Video 1 A and B. Why is that? How can I enable myself to do that, so I can apply transitions between the two..??

Ok, I just checked.. and I can't put any video in Video 1b if there is something in Video 1a. WHY??

    PLEASE HELP!

  2. Did you get somewhere with this?
I've been trying to do some transitions and just cannot get them to
work. They seem to good in the preview windows though.

  3. I don't have any problem like that. I can move any clip/pic from and to anywhere I want without any problem with 6.0. I can also add extra video timeline and erase them any time I want such as Video 3, Video 4, ...

But there is one to check before moving clips around. Like any other Adobe Graphics software (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/etc), the selection tool is the always the first thing check before doing anything with the software. Make sure the selection tool icon (an icon with an arrow pointing upperleft located in the upper left corner of the timeline window) is selected. Without that icon selected, moving things around in the timeline seems almost impossible.

One little trick to place transisitons in Premiere: It is also recommended to put clips alternatively in Video 1A and 1B so as to add the transitions easily.

Hope this helps. Hope I get your questions right. If not, please enlighten further.

  4. Hm.. ok.. I guess I have to try that.
Cuz I've deleted Adobe Premiere 6.0 and reinstalled 5.0 because the tracks go where THEY want, not where I want. :/

I want to do transitions fully in my control.
Meaning, I want to start it where I want it, end it where I want it, have the star-fade-percentage how I want it and how it ends... I want it in my full control like in 5.0

Not sure if you got it working or not but in case not, this is what I do. Drag your clip onto 1A. Go to where you want the transition and cut the clip with the razor. Drag one piece to Track 1B. Overlap the 2 tracks by the amount of the transition you want and drag the required transition onto the transition track into that location. You can adjust the duration of the transition by right clicking on the transition and changing the time in seconds and frames and then matching up the two clips to the ends of the transition.

That works for me in any case so it should work for you.

  6. I can't get them to overlap at all!
    It won't allow it.
If there's a clip in A it won't allow anything under it in B.

Vidkid you always go on about how you hate 6.0 but love 5 why don't you just use 5 if you like it so much?

  8. I did.
I uninstalled 6.0 and reinstalled 5.0 a long time ago now. Check the date of my first post.

I just want to know what I'm doing wrong or whatever.
The good thing about 6.0 is that it can import DivX video as well as MP3 audio, and has more transitions and cool stuff. It's just the transitions that aren't working the way they did in 5.0.

Hasn't ANYONE ELSE come across this??
Hasn't anyone here used 5.0 before and now are using 6.0???

    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks.

    Hi All and The VidKid,

you´re absolutely right about the good things and performance about premiere
    6.0.

Overlap can be done easily if you select under Window tab, Workspace and
then select A/B track editing. I´m using Hollywood FX, great.
Overlap does´nt work if you are under Single-track editing
even switching between track mode (little icon rightside video 1 timeline).

    Hope i help.

    512ram, 3 hd´s, 10gb (system only) ATA-100, 40gb(2) ATA-100
DV-500plus Pinnacle (i´m dreaming about pro-one, i´ve tested and was amazing)
    Premiere 6.1
    AviSynth
    TMPGenc
    WinOncd 3.8 PE

Time to encode VCD 1 hour video: 5 hours (i think it´s great for that processor)]

    PII 300mhz takes 10 hours.

I was wondering how my settings will work on a P4 dual processor, should i get
    real time? still dreaming.....

All my VCD are for commercial use (on CD bussiness card) till now my customers
are very impressed about mpeg1 quality. I heard it from people trainned for
BETA quality and MPEG2. I´m very proud.

It´s my chance to thanks a lot for everybody and everyone who teach me and share
knowledgment (Baldrick start it, he´s the man).
