capturing from dvd unit

I have a standalone apex ad-660 with diabled macrovision and want to know what is the best settings in virtualdub.I am using a aiw 128 pci 16mb for capture using s-video in. And what is the best codec to use. I am using 480x480 resol-
capture. Want to make great svcd. After all it is coming from a dvd unit.

if you're not using win98se, repartition your hdd & dual-boot. remember to install the ati video player(mmc up to v6.3 will also work) to gain access to the vfw capture device. if you have the hdd space capture 480x480 with huffyuv or other lossless codec. do NOT deinterlace, but ivtc is an option if your source is telecined(be aware virtualdub auto-ivtc will not function with the frameserver)
