I purchased some inexpensive (2/$3) DVD Movies at a local drugstore (Walgreens). They are part of the "Treasure Box collection". They come packaged in a cardboard sleave vs a plastic box. The quality is more like VCD than DVD.

Here is the info from CDVDInfo.exe:

    Label: THEYCALLMETRINITY
    Contents:
    4.25 GB, ISO 9660, UDF
    1 layer(s) (PTP)
    Application: SONIC SOLUTIONS IMAGESCRIPT (52239)
    Publisher: -
    Disc region: 1 2 3 4 5 6
    Video: MPEG-2 720x480 NTSC 4:3
    Audio: -

Are these 'Burned' DVDs or pressed commercial DVDs?

they are pressed -- they are cheap because of little or no lic rights and the source was from tape as supplied for broadcast most likely (old 1" and 3/4" and best case maybe beta sp) -- not rescanned or telecined from film and remastered --

some of these look like they came from 16mm or vhs , which is certainly possable ..

people collect and trade them even ..

cheap also because of no package ..

a pressed disk cost a lot less than a burned disk .. in quanity ..

THEY CALL ME TRINITY was a good spaghetti western series-- i remember when it came out , i saw them all at drive-ins

Trinity, my name it Trinity and they call me Trinity i think the names were --

i remember it was some really blue eyed guy ... one of them i think had a brief flash of nudity (of a women).

  5. I got "Dragnet" because it had Harry Morgan on the cover, indicating it was the later version of the show from the late 60's. However, it turned out the be the original series from the 50's, which Morgan wasn't in at all. However, for 2 for $3, I wasn't too worried about it....

    Thanks,

It was hard to pass up some of the titles at that price. My wife took up the slack to compensate for my discression.

They've got a large selection of $1 movies at walmart right now. I almost bought a few because the cases were nice. Slim, but not a "slim".

Yeah, I've noticed these cheapo's also, locally branded as "Hollywood dvd". They appear to be cheap because they're mostly B and C crappy movies that nobody wants, so they have to get rid of them somehow. Also, I noticed that they all seem to be full screen versions. Does that tell us anything about their source ?

Academy aspect ratio -- which a lot of 35 was shot in , is 1.37 anyway

my mother-in-law just brought me 8 or 9 of those, she's picking them up from a dollar store near her house. haven't had a chance to spin any yet, but I doubt they are bootlegs - just public domain dreck.

  13. They got some cool oldies (B-Grade). All public domain stuff in cardboard sleeves at the 99cent store.

$1... who care if it sucks... just pass it along if you ain't happy.

Saw a few Reagan movies, Abbott and Costello, horror stuff. Unknown stuff

  14. WalMart always seems to have a large bin full of DVD's on sale, but they're just dumped in there and it's way too much trouble to try to go through them. I usually see people sift through a few and them move on, not buying any of them....

Are you sure there not bootlegs. The packaging sounds exactly like the bootlegs they sell in china for $1-$3 australian.

  16. I like watching the old cheap movies so I can try to find all the stupid mistakes. If nothing else they're good for a laugh.

the difference is in china - is that the Chinese ones are often still in the theaters and just released (or soon to be released) DVDs ///

they sell for about 1$ US (same price you would pay there for something like autocad or windowsXP) - least last time i was there ...

Some of the ones i picked up are over 5 years old and were dvd quality as if they were ripped from dvd's.
