Hello,
I bought Toast Titanium for my Mac so that I could make back-up copies of my DVD collection. I've learned that this isn't going to happen with what I've got. I am not looking to sell or profit from this, rather to have copies of DVD's that I own. I don't want to reformat - I simply want to make exact copies that will play in my stand alone DVD player.
I use a Mac. Please advise.
If this is not the forum to ask this type of question, maybe someone could suggest another forum?
Thanks.

a mod should probably move this to the mac forum...
toast is a burning app. before you burn a copy you need to remove the css protection from the dvd. on a pc you would use anydvd or dvdfabdecrypter. you need to use whatever is the mac equivalent.--

I agree, you would probably get more answers in the Mac Forum. Moving you.
And welcome to our forums. -
After a search for "remove CSS protection" I found 'MacTheRipper' which seems to be a perfect fit for my needs - unless you guys have a better recommendation.
And thank you for the welcome - it's nice to be here! I love this stuff. -
oh yeah, sorry i missed that first post. welcome aboard!
i looked around and mac users feel free to correct me but mactheripper and the other free mac tools seem to not have been updated in about 3 years. if it works ok with your dvds, great, if not you may have to go to a commercial product like dvd2oneX. or try to run a pc program like the free dvdfabdecrypter.--

The free version of MTR is indeed older. However, do a search for user "lawnman" and you will see lots of information about an updated MTR. For a small contribution, you can have it sent to you.
Another option is to boot into Windows on newer Macs, and use any of a number of comparable tools for that platform. -
Allow me to facilitate an introduction: Pianoman1976: Lawnman is "the man" when it comes to all things related to ripping DVDs on the Mac. If you want to stay with native Mac tools, MTR is the one you want. As I mentioned earlier, the free version of MTR floating around out there has been superseded by a more capable, but not quite free, version. Go to ripdifferent.com to get instructions on how to obtain the latest magnum (macnum?) opus.
