Yes, that's what a mini DVD is. It won't play on most DVD players though.

  3. Does it work with AVI's like SVCD's or do I have to use DVD files? If I use mini DVD dont I have to encode it to a special format first?

miniDVD is the DVD structure on a CD. That means IFO, BUP and VOB files inside a VIDEO_TS folder. You would normally only get about 15-20 minutes on one CD, depending on bitrates used.

    If in doubt, Google it.
