Hi
What is the best configuration for a sports video, iam converting it from avi to vcd, as a result i need a sharp non-fliker picture.
i have already converted it to vcd in cbr vcd but the picture is not sharp enough. is there a sharp plugin or filter that i can add in tmpgenc.

Lots of fast motion and CBR don't really mix too well. If your bitrate isn't high enough you get a crappy picture and if it's too high it won't fit on your disc. I personally would try some short clips using VBR (use the bitrate calculator here on this site to find your optimal settings) and see if that improves things. VBR is far better to conserve bitrate for parts that really need it.
There are several ways to sharpen your picture, but I usually used v-dub to do this and frameserve to TMPGEnc. This will slow down your encoding so use sparingly. -
Depends on what you will be burning this to,if its gonna be dvdr then use a resolution of 352x480/576 mpg2 with a bitrate of 3000 vbr,vcd will never be good enough for fast sports scenes,if on a cdr then encode to 480x480/576 at 2500 kbps vbr mpg2 which is svcd.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
