All of a sudden, when I turn on my video camera or hard drive connected to my IEEE 1394 card, neither of them are detected anymore! Everything used to work fine and this just started happening outta the blue. I looked in the device manager and it says the card itself is functioning properly. I even uninstalled and re installed the card from device manager and nothing,,,,, anyone know what's wrong??

If you have the drivers for the card, try removing it from device manager and letting it redetect.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
Try this Microsoft Knowledgebase Article:

I beleive that this Hotfix is now part of Windows XP SP2, but it is unclear whether it actually is, given the date of the KB article.
