  1. Running 0.0.9n. OS X 10.3.3. Here's the output from DVD>DVD4 that failed.

I used YadeX to extract the DVD to a vob then chose the vob and hit DVD>DVD4

So I researched the %d error here, and as a shot in the dark I renamed the m2v and ac3 files from the failed conversion, and as you suggested chose both to Mux as DVD and it failed again with the %d error.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  2. Well for the heck of it I renamed the files and put a %d in the filename and tried Mux as DVD. It created about 2500 mpg files, but failed to make the VIDEO_TS folder, well it made the .DVD folder but the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files were empty because it couldn't find the mpg.

Here's the output from that. I cut out the middle, it repeated with different numbers.

You should have obtained a valid mpg file. Use the "Author as DVD" tool on it.

I tried muxing first because I didn't get a valid mpg file. After DVD>DVD4 makes the ac3 and m2v files I only get an 8k mpg file, then it Fails. If I use the %d in the file name it makes 2500+ 4k mpgs and then "fills in" three or four to 1G in size and one at 500M and a few smaller ones. It never generates one big mpg.

Below is the output from another try after reading your reply. Before I tried again I checked permissions, all was okay, and rebooted and ran fsck to make sure all was clear. I also threw away ffmepx prefs, just in case.
It failed the same, it made a 3.68G m2v and a 204M ac3 file, then a small 8k mpg named ANG.vob.4.mpg, then Failed.

Is it something on my end? For the record, I don't know if it's relevant, QT can't play the m2v, VLC plays the ac3 fine, but has trouble with the m2v, it gets to the menu and that's as far as it plays, or if it plays it plays choppy. I can successfully play the original vob file in mplayer, but VLC does the same as above as does QT.

    Thx.

Okay, I've got somewhere with this. I found that there are little 10k files inbetween the titles. As long as I don't choose those when I make the vob from yadex it will make the DVD. They show up as black in the Preview pane of yadex, no scroll bar. I can't include the menu or it gives the %d error too.

Now that I got it to work though, I found that because of making the vob I lose the menu and chapters, so that won't do. It's just one long file to play.

I was hoping the DVD>DVD4 worked like DVD2OneX, keeping the structure of the disc intact, but that's okay, I find ffmpegx worth the money for other things.

Is there any other way to use ffmpegx to compress the DVD but still keep chapters and the menu, so I don't have to purchase DVD2OneX?

  7. I'll add chaptering and other options to DVD>DVD4 in further versions, this is in my to-do list.
