I'm using DVDSanta to convert and burn my AVI file.
When I play the AVI file in my default player the sound and video are in sync with no problems, however once I convert it to a VOB file the sound gradually goes out of sync.
The AVI is using a DIVX codec and the resolution is 480x272... I am converting to 720x480 widescreen 16:9 NTSC. I've tryed numourous settings but it ALWAYS goes out of sync can anybody HELP!!
thanks in advance
Galvin

Have you scanned your AVI for bad/undecodable frames?

there could be a few reasons for your problem. did you re-encode your audio to 48000. what is the original frame rate of your avi? are you encoding it to ntsc or ntsc film?

A video file that plays sync'd on a PC won't necessarily be sync'd on a set top. Too many hardware variables in the PC realm that don't exist in the set tops.

Is the source AVI PAL or NTSC?
/Mats -
yeh i was going to ask that,it may be PAL-25fps,that would do it.
ive had problems with PAL-NTSC going out of sync before. -
Keep looking - I have no experience with this Santa app, but I'm confident there's no "one click solution" that will handle every AVI you throw at it. Try some of the AVI to DVD guides found left, and the tools they suggest.Originally Posted by Galvin

What utility would you use for this? Is there one for MPEGs?Originally Posted by mats.hogberg

No, it's the AVI that has to be scanned. If some frames are bad/undecodable, sync probs will arise (if it can be reencoded at all). Use VirtuaDub MP3 Freeze to scan the AVI.

Sorry. Let me rephrase my question.
I have captured in a TV show in mpg format and suspect some dropped frames. Will VirtualDub scan just AVI format? Can it scan mpg? Is there a utility that can perform the same function for mpg if VirtualDub doesn't work?
