  1. No matter what it seems like my dvds I burn always seem to fail file verification. This is true in both Nero and also CD Check which I use as an alternative.

Now what gets me is that whenever a file fails its always 99% identical, with only that damn 1% messing things up.

So I ask, what could possibly be causing that 1% screwup? It's not the media as I've tried different brands and different batches. Including the high quality Verbatim and Ritek. I've tried burning at both 4x and 2x with no difference. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Bad Burner? Bad Hard Drive? Etc

My burner is a Pioneer DVR-A05.

  2. Have you tried the Maxell dvd-r's? (Media code TYG01 or MXLRG01) I have an A05 also, and have gone thru 55 discs w/ no problems. I have a 50 pack of Prodisc on order to see how those behave.

    I rip w/ DVDShrink 3.2 to iso file and burn w/ DVDDecrypter @ 4x.

    yeah, my first post

File verification is crap, especially from Nero. Don't bother. All kinds of things can affect the test, rendering it useless.

Burn a really big file to a DVD, something like one or two gigabytes. Then go back and compare the source and the target with something like "FC", which runs from the command prompt.

I have had problems with this in the past, which were caused by errors on the IDE controller. (AMD 761 MPX chipset).

So you think that if I constantly get errors on large files like that it could be the IDE Cables or Connectors?

Would a Bios Update help ya think?

    I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L Motherboard. It's the Nforce 2 Chipset.

Alot of the NForce IDE drivers have been causing issues for a long time. Try to roll back to the MS drivers if you are using the Nforce drivers on the IDE channel and see if that helps.

I get a lot of errors on the fake-SCSI VIA interface too. Run a scandisc for error testings.
