I'm looking to buy one of the following standalone DVD recorders, but I'm having trouble finding out exactly what type of inputs and outputs they have and what is considered best.
As I'm based in the UK it's the European models I want, I think they're the same, but the US Liteon I believe differs in spec!
They are:
Samsung DVD-R100E - £204.98 all in.
Liteon LVW 5005 - £180.00 all in.
JVC DR-M10 - £217-96 all in.
My requirements are:
Two inputs as I have a Sky system and another satellite system to connect to it.
I-Link (Firewire) for direct Digital camera connection.
Record my old collection of VHS tapes onto it.
Also the DVD's it produces should be as compatible as possible with other DVD players and also editable by PC software.
Must be capable of writing to DVD RW- or + discs.
Budget, unfortunately only £220.00.
That's it, any views would be appreciated.
Regards
David

Most would pick the JVC BUT if you want to copy your protected tapes to DVD, then I'd pick LiteOn with the hacked 1163 firmware. I'm assumeing you have no hardware to cancel Macrovision.
LiteOn records to + discs only, thus not as compatible as dvd-r discs.
NOTE:
Hacked 1163 fw won't let you copy Macrovisoned DVDs. It removes MV only on playback.
ALSO , thanks to lordsmurf comparison testing recorders' 6 hour mode, I use it often on the LiteOn.
Most recorders' 6 hr mode are unwatchable.
