  1. Hi, my hp dvd wirter that came with the pc, doesn't work anymore, so I bought a new one, an external lite on dvd+-rw, and all of the dvds I backup with the new drive don't play on my lapton, an Ibook, I didn't have any problems with the hp writer, the laptop played those, and I'm using the same program, media and everything, why does the laptop doesn't play the dvds I burn with the lite on and it played fine the ones burned with the hp, again, I used the same disks, everytime I insert the dvd the laptop just freezes and I have to manually eject the disc, and then reboot, what's wrong???????

I am assuming you have tried the discs in another DVD player besides the computer they were burned on to rule out that the discs are not recorded properly? If they play properly, try a different disc brand, just to see if that makes any difference.

The only thing I can come up with is to compare the discs that don't play to the ones that do. This site has a few useful tools:http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=download.html

Or hopefully someone else here can figure it out. Good luck.
