Dvd2svcd does ntsc to pal using tmpgenc or cce or procoder as the encoding engine and you can choose cvd or dvd as your output files.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  6. I stand half corrected.

    DVD2SVCD looks tricky but doable.

Efiste2, you will need a copy of TMPGEnc. It encodes MPEG-2 (DVD) for 30 days for free, after which you must buy it to continue use. It's USD$99.

    Good luck.

im alittle confused, isnt there a straight forward program that can just have ntsc input and provide a pal output sorry to sound so dumb

  8. If you want tip top results use tmpgenc, takes forever but great quaility.
I have obtained satisfactory, even great, results using Power producer gold 2 by cyberlink, I think this type of all inone software has an encoding engine?

Anyways, you start this software saying you want pal or ntsc, import the file, and then just proceed, it takes a while but no where near as long as tmpgenc.

You then import the resulting mpg file into tda and the ntsc file you already have and away you go.

    Good luck

how do i import my NTSC files (which are in the form of a videoTS and audioTS files) into tmpgnc , when i start tmpg it wont recognise these files.

  11. i use tmpg express and author, both can import dvd files to "re-edit" them.
In express you use the sourec wizard, in cyberlink power producer it is a bit flaky I have got it to work but the way it does it, from dvd disk only, not from HD !, is odd, IMHO.

Again good luck. You are treading a path well trodden.

The only way I have put both NTSC and PAL on one disc is with DVDShrink - but I haven't found a way to make a menu for it though.

I haven't tried it, but PowerProducer 2 Gold seems to have that capability. I'd try it, but I have no way to check the end result since I don't have a PAL capable TV or DVD player.

  14. There are programs that will identify the finished product for you, indeed you can re-load the finished dvd into tmpenc/tda/ and if you try to play it on your equipment and it rolls or doen;t play at all you've probably done it correctly!

Okay- I just put a 2 minute NTSC mpeg-2 into Power Producer and output a PAL DVD. It played on the computer (as expected) and when I tried to play it in my standalone I got the message "disk can't be played due to area prohibitions". I really didn't expect that since the disk is region free, but apparently it did output a PAL disk.

I also made a disk image on the HD from an NTSC DVD, mounted the image and then loaded that into PP2 and output an PAL disk. Same results.

So it does seem to work, but I'd try the 30 day trial first if you don't already have PP2.

  19. No, is is the source wizard that I use, not project wizard, sorry.

Tell me how large are these "Files", you know what I wish we could email stuff to each other but I guess the speed of high speed internet does not allow for 4.7gb files to fly around!

    Good luck

source wizard wont either, i must have the files saved wrong!!! DOH how do i extract the NTSC DVD into the right file type. at the moment they are a video TS and an audio TS file wich include vob,bup etc etc how do i extract into an mpeg file so i can get tmpgnc to recognise it, i relayy appreciate everyones help with this, and pardon my naivity

  21. efiste2; Sorry to leave you hanging.

DVD2SVCD is supposed to automate all of this. It uses TMPGEnc as the encoding engine.

You just install DVD2SVCD and TMPGEnc, and then point DVD2SVCD to Tmpgenc (in its config), then use DVD2SVCD and it will massage the files into the appropriate format and call TMPGEnc when necessary to do the encoding.

RIGHT now im getting somewhere, ive pointed dvd-svcd towards tmpgnc and loaded in my file but i cant tick the ntsc to pal option!!!!! anymore help my friends

  23. I'll have to leave that to someone else; I don't have DVD2SVCD and it is a 8mb download.. and I am on dial-up.

One thing, though; make sure you are going the right way.. If you are in North America or Japan, your television is NTSC and you want to convert the PAL video. If you are in South America or Europe (or Australia, or many parts of Africa..), your television is PAL and you want to convert the NTSC video to PAL.

Open the Video_TS Folder with DVD Author (use the Add DVD video button). After clicking OK to get to the Option Settings, check the box that says 'Copy the clip video data to the HDD'. (Before click OK you can select where the clip is copied to). Click OK and it will copy the video to an mpeg-2 file.

Converting one format to another is a real pain in the a$$. That has GOT to be the most common question asked here on these forums.

    One way- step by step:

Use Power Producer 2 Gold to open the NTSC DVD. Set PP2 to output to PAL) of the other DVD. Process that file to create a set of DVD files on your HD. Wait until done.

Close PP2 and Open TMPGEnc DVD Author. Import the DVD files created by PP2. Import the DVD files from the PAL DVD. Create menu, create DVD, watch DVD.

Open the program. On the first screen click on Produce Movie Disk. That will move you to the 2nd screen.

On the 2nd screen there are 5 boxes with selectable options. Those are:

Location, Video Recording Format, Disk Capacity, Video Quality and Audio Quality.

You can select PAL or NTSC in the Location box.
