  1. Couple of days ago I got my new prog DVDit 5.0, I used to use the old one 2.5 that was very easy to use but without motion menus.
Now this one have all motion menus, psd, buttons mapping ... and much more.
I tried every single video file i had, and all of them worked smoothly
    avi, xvid, divx, mpg, wmx.

too strange, i read a post a month ago about the same prog. saying its a bullshit and it didn't accept most of his files!!!! I'll be more than glad to test some of his files if he likes to. you can send some small sample files and i'll test them for you, if you like!!!??

only one thing is missing in this prog. is the subtitles, so if you need them thats not your prog.

every thing else is just more than perfict, I guess this program will collect allot of fans, specially those who use tmpeg DVD auther, Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3. and all that easy and fast DVD authering progs.

    thank you.

The program re-encodes already-compliant files. It'll "accept" anything, but it will then re-encode. Because it insists on re-encoding even compliant MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files, the program is pretty much banished to newbie hell.

There are 4 levels of programs:

PRO (everything you want, programs cumbersome)
MID-LEVEL (almost everything you want, easier interface)
BASIC (simple interface, takes no knowledge of authoring)
and CRAP (re-encodes compliant files, crashes, no options, etc)

DVDit! 5 by far fits into the "crap" category.
Sonic tech support was also less than informative.

The encoder engine is quite subpar. From what I read, it's based on a limited version of MainConcept in several preset modes. Never let an authoring program encode video.

    Hi lordsmurf,

I am using DVDit PE 2.5. Use TMPGenc to encode MPEG2 compliant. It author quite fast. So, I doubt it reencode.

I have DVDit! PE 2.5.4 myself. Works great.

DVDit! 5, on the other hand, does not work fine.
