  1. I finally can ask something! Been waiting for 3 days. Ok, my question is I downloaded a movie in AVI format in 2 parts. Each part was about 220 MB. I then converted both parts to MPEGII and each turned into 3.5 GB. Obviously that wont fit on a DVD so I had to burn each part to a DVD. So now I have 2 CD's. What I'm wondering is how can I get it to fit on a single dvd? I know about DVDShrink but for some reason its not working for me. I'm kinda new to this DVD burning stuff, please help me!

when you convert the AVI's to mpeg2 you need to change the bitrate lower so each part will be about 2gb each. go to bitrate calculator in the tools section.

  3. So if I download the bitrate converter that will get it down to 2 GB each? Will it still be good quality or will it be less?

not bitrate converter, bitrate calculator you will have to start the process over of converting avi to mpeg2 and do it with a lower bitrate this time.

  5. Anthing lower than a video bitrate of 3,500 will be suspect regarding quality. (especially if you videos have a lot of action and original content was DV 720x480))

You may want to convert down to resultion of 352x480 if the original content came from VHS quality.

    Hello,
It will look a LITTLE worse. It depends on how much you reduce. If you reduce it no lower than 2500 bitrate you should be OK. You'll probably notice some distortions but nothing like low bitrate divx and it will still be better than svcd or vcd.

  7. Have to do it over again? I already deleted the file off of my computer. Ok, I guess that means I have to re-download it, right? Is that bitrate calculator pretty easy to use because the picture looked a little confusing. I'll figure all this out eventually. lol.

you could do another reincode at lower bitrate, but it would just make the quality even lower. its better to start with original source

    Hello,
Didn't you say you made a disc? Just rerip it and start from there. The calculator can be overwhelming. Just take sometime and read the help files.

  10. Yup, I have 2 discs and tried to rip it to my computer but theres just alot of stuff to do to it. I started re-downloading the movie so hopefully it will be done in a couple of days and I can start going from there. Maybe insted of converting them to MPEGII I will just leave it AVI and try and burn it to the disc. That might work, right?

My suggestion, if AT ALL possible, buy the DVD. If he movie is available commercially, get it, then you'll save the hassle of shitty encodes and worse re-encodes. It will probably cost less money than the time to make your own DVD.

That is, IF it is available commercially (even Paris Hilton is available ).
