Which of these models would you recommend. I know Lord Smurf has said he prefers the 9800 over the other jvc's, but what about the 9600 vs. the 9911? I'm leaning toward the 9600, but the only place I can find it is on Ebay, and I'm a little hesitant to buy a vcr used. The seller does have a solid 100% rating backing him, but is it still a good idea?

Even if the 9600 turns out to be in perfect condition, how much better would a new 9600 be than a new 9911? I'm just trying to find out if the increase in quality is worth the risk.

    Thanks,
    Brent

if you can find a 9600 in good shape for a reasonable price grab it. all recent vcrs are pretty much junk. i tried several recent models a while back including the 9911, srv10u & mitsubishi 778, all were pretty cheaply built, the jvcs both had problems tracking the audio with some of my tapes (and these were retail copies purchased new, albeit a few years old) and the mitsubishi only had mediocre video quality and limited features. i finally settled on the jvc 5200 which was considerably less expensive than the 9911 and just doesn't have the built in tbc or noise reduction but also for some reason doesn't have problems tracking the audio on any of my tapes.
