If you want easy, then the DVD recorder is the way to go. You can get 1-2 hours on a DVD, more if it has a long play mode.

The problem is editing the resulting MPEG2 video on a computer. MPEG editing is more difficult to keep audio/video sync than AVI or DV. (DV is a type of AVI.)

Just something to consider. I use a ADVC-100 and the DV output can be edited, or processed with filters with simple tools such as Virtualdub.

Definitely LiteOn LVW5005. If you need editing on the disc, you can try Philips DVDR75. I had it for 2 months now, very good too.

No money and no time = no editing for you. Sorry, that stuff takes time, and the software and PC hardware takes money.

For easy tape to DVD conversions, DVD recorder is fine. The LiteOn gives great quality, useful MV hacks. The best recorder however is the JVC DRM10SL right now.

  5. latest posts on both liteon 5005 and advc-100 implies can no longer be updated to bypass macrovision. is this true? seems as though liteon 5005 manufactured june 5004 won't take hack.
does the advc-50 jumper trick still work for macrovion

  6. i heard about the hack tricks with some capture devices. I just bought the DAC-100 which is identical to the ADVC-100 but it is £60 / $100 cheaper than the ADVC plus it also removes the macro vision without the need for a hack trick. quality has been fantastic on what i have captured and i used this on a P3 700mhz packardbell laptop that has taken a serious beating over the past few years. so if your looking for a cheap alternative thats going to do the same if not be slighty better than the ADVC-100 get your self a DAC-100
