That is a dynamic link library file.

Why do you want to open it?

That's a dynamic link library. One of many Windows uses.

I suggest opening registry editor and searching for this file name. Look at the other with it and see if an executable file or an application name is mentioned. If it is, try reinstalling the app

I paid 10 bucks to download what I thought was a service manual for my printer and got about 8 files, all .dll and I do not know how to open any of them so that I can read the manual.

is there readme.txt in the file you downloaded? How about a file named setup or install? If there's a readme it will probably give you instructions on how to install. You might just need to paste them in a directory to make them work such as your printers help folder.... How about on the website they usuallyy give instructions on how to install the download.

BTW what kind of manufacturer would charge $10 for a manual, that;s ridiculous.

I would agree with you on the ridiculous part but I am desperate to get my print back up and running, only 7 weeks old, Epson RX600, no joy or luck yet.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but here's a link to a .pdf of the Epson RX600 manual:http://media-server.amazon.com/media/mole/MANUAL000051703.pdf

You need acrobat reader to open it.

redwudz thank you for the reply and trying to help but what I need is a service/repair manual for this printer, one like epson repair centers would have. I have the owners user guide which does cover what I need to know in order to try and repair my printer myself. Again thank you though for taking time to try and help me.
    Thank You,

    golfnut,

Couple of questions. What's wrong with the printer that you can't send/take it back in for service if it's only 7 weeks old? Should still be in warranty if you bought it new.

The place you bought the manual from can't help you with opening the manual? They have to have some kind of contact, either by e-mail or phone. Are you able to reach them to ask some questions?

Did the "package" you get come as a zipped file, and you unzipped it, or was it an .exe file? If it was an executable, you may have already installed it without realizing it. Did you check you programs list to see if there are any new listings in it? If it was a zip file, you should extract it to a directory where you can see what is/was inside the "package". If they only sent you DLL files and no associatied program, either they ripped you off or the files are meant to open with an existing common program, such as Acrobat (though those should be .pdf files, not .dll). Sounds like you are missing something here. Usually DLL files are part of a complete executable that are associated with the program that is designed to open them.

If you want, send me a PM and I'll give you my e-mail address (if you don't already have it) and you can send this "package" to me and I'll be glad to take a look at it and see if there's anything I can figure out from it. No guarantee, but at least I can try. Let me know.

    Roundabout.

Roundabout thank you so much for your detailed reply in trying to help me with my problem. I think I have everything under control now. Spoke with Epson this AM and they are shipping a new printer today. You are right, there was an exeutable file that came with the download that I can open the manual from. Live and learn, just call me stupid I guess. Thanks again for your help and have a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thank You,

    Golfnut,

Glad you were able to get a new printer and solve the problem. I certainly would not call you stupid, esp. if the people that sent you this didn't bother to explain how to use it, by including a Readme file or some kind of instructions.

    Anyway, problem solved - cheers!

  13. A manual shouldn't require a DLL. It should be in text, word, html or PDF format.

TVI, did that, thanks for the recommendation, everything fine now or will be when I get the new printer. I would still like to find a service manual for the RX600 so I can learn how to replace my own waste ink pad and learn how to reset the counter. The service manual I thought I was buying wasn't a service manual but a service program which allows you to do certain things like reset you setting if you replace a circuit board but absolutely no text on how to do anything, 2manuals.com in my opinion is a ripoff, fair warning to all I would stay away from them but that's just one person's opinion.
    Thank You,

Ummmm... That service software is gold if you can get the manual so you can learn how to use it. Most likely you can get the exact error with that software. I still don't think it was the waste ink counter, you couldn't have possibly run enough ink through it to trip that yet. I think it was a PF motor over current protection of some kind. I'll look around to see if I can find the manual for that printer. Most of them run around $50-$75 from the licensed sources.

Did you check for a help file with the software? Is it DOS or windows. If it is DOS, type int the name of the software with a question mark after it (like you were going to run it, but the ? will bring up a help screen).

First stop for a manual would be ManualDepot on EBAY (maybe Ebay.ca), I've bought manuals from this guy, and they are the real thing (canadian version but close enough). As far as I know, this guy is really licensed by epson to resell the manuals.

TVI thanks for the info. If you can find a manual please let me know. Even at $50 it would probably pay for itself the first time I have to reset the waste counter. There is no help file. When I have time today I will send you a few screenshots to the email address you sent to me the other day, take a look at them and tell me what you think and what they mean, like Greek to me without a help file. The service program will not function since my printer is locked up with the error message, "service required, etc." When I try to use the service program it too gives me an error message "communication error" so it is really worthless, at least for me, at this point. It is a windows based program.
