cannot open file

when i tried to convert a video file by using winavi video conerter, there is a dialog box saying that the file cannot be opened. anyone knows what does it mean and knows how to fix it? thanks

What kind of file is it (i.e. file extension)

What codec is the video file using (download gspot or mediainfo to determine this)?

What version of winavi are you using?

The file looks like a "typical" .rmvb file

winavi should be able to convert it

The problem is your asian characters. You have to rename them (including the containing folders and video file) to english filenames.

Nah. It's already a 'safe' name (03b.rmvb). Just copy it to a directory that doesn't have the extended ASCII characters in the name, and try converting it from there (for example, C:\temp\03b.rmvb).

No, the file. Preferably to a temporary folder - or any folder that doesn't have special characters or spaces in the name should do.
