DVD Maestro

I author my dvd's with DVD Maestro 2.9 and i make my 2 menu's with DVD Menu Studio. On my first menu i put a play button and a scene select on the 2nd menu i put usually 4 chapter buttons and i button to go back to main menu. All of these buttons work perfectly. But when playing the full movie from start to finish, when the first scene select comes up it goes back to the main menu. when i fast forward just parsed that piont the rest of the movie plays fine.
I have run out of all ideas..if someone has anything i could try i would be soooo grateful.

Maybe there is a better program for what i am trying to do????

Try Encore DVD 1.5 A chapter shouldnt play and lead back to a menu. Thats odd. With Encore you just click to add chapter points along the timeline 1, 2, 3 , 4 etc. Then go back to the menu and right click on the button and choose 'Link To' and then choose your chapter point. DVD Meastro is crusty and old with no bug fixes. I would always use software from big companies like Adobe or Sonic Solutions that have large teams of workers getting paid overtime to fix bugs in products then a dead company like Spruce.
With Encore and Photoshop combined you can create your own buttons and complex motion menus that revial that of Scenerist menus.

1. adobe encore is still buggy as all get out ...

2. spruce is not a dead company , just folded into apple and is now an apple product ..

3. maestro was and still is one of the best authoring apps around (scenarist is another one alone with Apple DVD Studio Pro (which was maestro in its heart) .

4. sonic does not have large teams of people trying to fix bugs .. in fact each of thier products came from other companies that they just purchased (including scenarist) and in many cases they are using contracted people to write updates and any bug fixes .. in some cases - every update further ruins the product ... witness recordnow max and scenarist ac3 encoder as cases in point ..

5. maestro delivered any bug fixes that were required to REGISTERED users ...

you use photoshop or paintshop pro or dvd menu studio you do the same thing and can create the same menus for maestro or scenarist ....

7. big name studio's use pretty well only Scenerist or (still) maestro or in some cases DVD studio to author disks ...

the only real issue with apple DVD Studio is the fact that (many have been sent to me to fix) many of the encodings are not well done ..

print out your connections tab here ... or go through it and see why the buttons are links like that ..

I am guessing OdarO is a prosumer armed with a dvdr not a professional armed with a $5000 mpeg encoder card and a DLT drive. I guess its ok if you want to use a professional authorer like Meastro but why bother with such a complex app if your not getting paid for the troubles that come with a complex app. Anyone can get Meastro from a filesharing program but my next question is how would one get to preview his DVDs in Meastro without the decoder card it wants. Scenerist is the same also.
At least you can preview with EncoreDVD without any special decoder card.

both scenarist and maestro do not require decoder cards .. both use software decoding also just as well ..

you can play or preview anything - with sound and full navigation ..

scenarist gives you the option to simulate software or hardware playback even ...
