  1. I just put one of these between my VHS and DMR-E50.

What is the general consensus on these?......The picture (regardless of "mode setting"), seems a bit grainy and "artificial" to me.

Is it my imagination......has anyone ever done an A/B comparison?

I have tested it with my JVC M10sl, I like it very much. I think what some people are calling grainy is really sharpness. From what I can tell the GoDVD makes the image a bit sharper so that when it is transfered to dvd it doesn't lose it's detail.

I have an E50 and haven't tried it with that machine yet. I personally like the sharpening of the video. I must admit that because of the overall sharpening some video may show more artifacts than others.

All-N-All it's a nice device, but do not use it with video that is very sharp already. If the GoDVD was able to sharpen only the sharp areas in the video instead of the blending areas then this device would be the best simple enhancer on the market for the price.

It's not worth the full price of $99, maybe $49.

  3. There making a nice profit at 99 bucks. Cost of goods is proabably $5 or less on the thing.

Yeah....it makes me want to use the focus control a bit.

Have you found that you're only using the "normal" mode?......seems I prefer it over the others.....the B&W does soften the focus a bit.

    One other thing.....
Quite often, before and after I use it, I see a pattern of wide, white vertical bars on the screen......if I disconnect the video input, they go away......
yet I know the cable is good.

    Have you seen this?

No I can't say I have, the only thing I noticed was the broad use of sharpening.
