  1. Having ripped a couple of DVD's to svcd I have been well pleased with the end result, however having downloaded a couple of items in divx format, both 3 & 4 I would like to convert them to either vcd or svcd to play on my dvd and tv, my questions are as follows.-

    1. Is it possible to perform this conversion and still obtain decent quality video, bearing in mind most divx files I have seem to be around 7-800mb so starting quality is probably not brilliant but looks ok on the pc.

    2. Would taking it to svcd provide any quality benefits or will a divx conversion never provide quality high enough to justify svcd

    3. I have used dvd2svcd to rip my dvd's which gives quality I am happy with and provides a simple interface and overall solution, is there a similar program out there which will handle divx conversions.

    4. Have tried avi2mpg2 but this generates errors, I assume that this is due to the fact that it is a divx file with compressed audio

Any help with the above would be great, I suppose I'm mainly wanting to ascertain whether its worth the effort for the resulting quality.

If anyone has managed to produce watchable (decent quality, vhs video quality minimum) conversion from divxI would appreciate their comments.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have been toying with DivX>SVCD and I can say that the quality ain't the best. Best way to get them into CCE would be to frameserve with VDub, add a spatial smoother and you may get good results (my com's too slow to do it, 30 hours a disc ) The VCD Quality may be acceptable.
