I have a dmr-55 unit and it records fine and finalizes a disc fine, but after it finalizes, the unit just freezes. You have to unplug it to get it to come back. Is there a firmware update to fix this. I checked panasonic's web site, but did not find anything.

Bad media? That would be my first suspicion. I have a 50 (same but a little older) and it's picky about the media you give it.

I had my E20 do that 2 or 3 times, seemed like it was when it was getting too hot. Make sure all intake vents and behind the fan are clear, also don't have it on top of anything or have anything on top of it.
