Hi, i've extracted a vob using OSEx; when i double click on it, it opens up the apple dvd player, but doesn't respond to the play button in the player or any button. it does play in vlc. i realize that the apple player plays only video_ts folders-- i created a video_ts folder, did not author it of course and put the vob in it to see if the "app dvdplayer" 'd play it and it didn't.
is there any way to get it to play in apple's player?
i extracted the vob for compression through ffmpegX dvd>4 command. i am hoping the resulting video_ts folder will do all the things in the apple dvd player, except for the absence of a couple of audio tracks and the inital menu i guess, that the original disc did in the player. Anyone have any experience with using ffmpegX to compress an OSEx produced VOB? Could you please share your impressions of the job done by ffmpegX and OSEx in producing the authored dvd?
thanks a million for any help!

Video ts folders have ifo and bups. Without the ifo Apple's player won't know what to do. If you ripped the vob and removed any play protection the old ifo's may not be correct, so copying them to the ts folder may not work either. I ditched the Apple dvd player completely. Dragged it to the trash and emptied the trash. I use VLC all the time(including the pc version on my "other" computer). I RPC1 flashed two Pioneer 107's, one for the eMac and one for the pc, so region codes don't get in the way anymore. The Mac flash for the Pioneer was so easy, I did both drives in firewire boxes and took out the second one to put inside my pc. Mac The Ripper on the Mac and then ifoedit the vob's on a pc to make new ifo's(usually less than 200kb) and you can burn a backup on your pc with Nero or the Mac with Toast6Ti.

if all you want is just that one .vob to be a new dvd, simply take the .vob demux it with something like bbDemux, take the .m2v [video file] and the .ac3[audio file] and use sizzle to author a VIDEO_TS folder. you will then see that dvd player will play that file
but if you want the menu's and what not from the dvd, you cant just rip a single .vob and expect the menu's to come along.
