Can you guys tell me How do I go about accessing my pc while I'm away from home (Two week vacation to Disney World). When I say access, I mean full control, just as if I was sitting in front of it. Do I require an App to do so or Does it operate through a service only. Is it fast? Is it sluggish? Do I have to shutdown my Firewall in order for it to work? Any information is appriciated.

If your running xp pro then you can use the remote desktop utility built into it. But your router will need to support port forwarding for that. and the machine you use to access will need the client side of remote desktop which you can download for free from microsoft.

you could also get some software such as Radmin or RemotelyAnywhere.
But you will have to setup the router/machine to accept those incoming ports. and whatever machine you use to access it will need the client side of that software.

do some reading about these apps.

  5. I would recommend any VNC app. They are free, and not advanced for administrators like some others. They give you full control over your PC, and if you can;t install the Viewer on a remote computer, you can access it from the web too.
