  1. I have been using a Panasonic DMRE20 DVD recorder for almost 2 years, with good results; however, when fast-forwarding through the finalized DVD's on other DVD players, the picture often freezes, and the disc must be ejected and re-started. The discs play back fine on the DMRE20, it's just other decks that have the freezing problem. I have also received discs recorded on Panasonic DMRE50 that have the same problem, so apparently Panasonic hasn't been able to correct the issue.

I am considering purchasing a Pioneer DVR210 or DVR220, mostly for the nicer thumbnail menus compared to the text menu on the Panasonic recorder.

Has anyone experienced any freezing (or other) problems with Pioneer recorders when playing back finalized discs on other players? And is there any difference in the Pioneer 210 vs. 220, other than the DV input on the 210?

For the record, I use a Sony Vaio with a Toshiba burner for my digital video >> DVD production, but I do have many VHS tapes I'd like to convert to DVD, and the stand-alone deck provides a quicker alternative to the capturing, rendering, preparing & burning required with the PC.

I have both the DMR E20 and the DMR E50 but never experienced the problem that you prescribed; I believe it might be due to the brand of DVD-R you are using
Suggest you make a test with Maxell and/or TDK (made in Japan)
I beleive the newer Panasonic DVD recorder also have the nice looking thumbnail menus
