While using mpeg2enc seems to be OK, the exact same source files that I encode to MPEG-2 for DVD SP3 (or 2) using ffmpeg are not compatible. This is with 16:9 or 4:3 content at 23.98 or 29.97 fps (w/ or w/out pulldown). DVD SP gives an error message stating "file format not recognized" when I try to import. On the good side though, the AC-3 encoded files now seem to be perfectly capable w/ DVD SP3. Not being able to use ffmpeg isn't so bad for 4:3 content, but ffmpeg seems to do a much better and faster job of encoding MPEG-2 for 23.98-16:9 content (of which I work with the majority) than mpeg2enc.
And suggestions Major on what can be done to make these files work? Is there a second application/tool out there that can take the ffmpeg encoded MPEG-2 .mpv and make it compatible w/ DVD SP3? As I stated above, the Pulldown tool menu does its job, but the files are still incompatible with DVD SP. Thanks for any help.
