I need to capture an edited film from a sony dv cam video recorder. Then to output to DVD-R. Which will I get best results from....
1.) Using something like scenalyzer or puremotion to capture AVI's (ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS) [please read my post on scenalyser settings]
2.) Then convert AVI to MPeg 2 using TMpeg (ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS)
3.) Burn on DVD-R using MyDVD
OR
4.) Buy Ulead DVD Movie Director and use their capture/output to MPeg 2
5.) Burn using Ulead

Thanks for the info, but....
I have adobe premiere 5.1c and a firewire card but cant seem to get video to show up in capture window. Therefore i don't think its being picked up by premiere. BTW my O.S. is win xp pro.
You any ideas??

1.) Use a good AVI capture card (I prefer the WinTV GO) and capture straight to AVI using Virtual Dub. Follow the SVCD capture guide found on this site.
2.) Use VDUB to edit the video, if needed, and save the avi or frameserve it to TMPGEnc and encode as an MPEG-2 SVCD.
3.) Burn the DVD-R using whatever DVD-R software you prefer.
These steps provide a general guideline and might require some in-between steps depending on what you are doing. But that should give you a general idea.
BTW, Panasonic MPEG Encoder doesn't encode in MPEG-2. It encodes in MPEG-1. The MPEG-2 version has not been released yet. -
Thanks for the help. The only thing is that i already have a firewire card
