    Hi,
Quick question guys. I knew a site which answered this question but
can't find it. I have a ok-quality movie which I want to burn as
    SVCD or VCD.
The movie file details according to GSPOT:
    Bitrate: 805 kb/s
    Resolution: 576x240

I would like to burn SVCD since it has better quality
but I don't want to waste time if there won't be much difference.

So please advise me guys, SVCD or VCD?

    Thanks,
    Rahul

this is 100% subjective, and depends on many factors.

just make a DVD, no one can argue with that....

  3. Since the bitrate is so low, you'll not get good quality video at higher resolutions. Unless you have a higher bitrate than 1150kbps, it does not make sense to go beyond a CD. Forget about making a SVCD from your clip.

  4. You didn't say but your source is most likely Divx or Xvid and widescreen. Converting to SVCD will definitely look better than VCD.

lol ur rite flanina. thanks for the suggestions guys, i can't make a dvd though i dont have a dvd burner . Yeah my source is Xvid, i didn't mention that and its widescreen. I think I'll burn a KVCD (I read
about it on kvcd.net thx flanina) or a VCD. I have a lot of CD's
    so its alright.

    thanks,
    rahul

haha, ok. just bear in mind KVCD isn't as compatible as VCD if you go that way.

  8. If you reduce to (K)VCD you'll be losing a lot of resolution. From 576x240 down to 352x132 or thereabouts (if you keep your aspect ratio). You'll be loosing a lot. If you go with SVCD you'll be around 480x272. Of course you'll probably end up spreading it across two or more CDs.

You're right its not very compatible, my dvd player doesn't like it very much, the audio sometimes skips with KVCD. You bring up a good point junkmalle so I think I will encode to SVCD unless anyone suggests anything else.

    Thanks.
