  1. I have 2 svcd mpegs that I want to author into one dvd using TMPGEnc DVD Author. The mpg's that I have will not load into TDA due to a GOP error. (PAL vs. NTSC? I don't know) So, when this happened to me before I just ran them through TMPEnc and re-encoded them using its project wizard. The first mpeg went through fine and I checked and it loaded into TDA with no problem. The second mpg would only encode to the 0:04:44 mark or so and then would freeze on that frame. The original file plays fine with no hicups in media player though. The original files were extracted from cue/bins with vcdgear v3.07b15. (again this worked fine for the first file.) Isobuster wouldn't touch the file without a ton of read errors. I thought about cutting mpeg in 2 parts. Up to the error and after the error. I was able to get the first part done but TMPGEnc won't process beond that point.
    1. Am I in the right forum for this question?
    2. What shoud be my next step to try?
    3. Why does the file play fine in Windows MP2?

    Thanks for any help

    Joe,
Try perusing the tools section here for an MPEG file repair tool, instead of relying on TDA to do it. You could also use something like Vobrator to demux the files and try opening the video and audio separately to identify where the problem is.

Womble's MPEG-VCR has a GOP Fixer tool that fixes GOP errors and PTS errors. This might help. You can also use it to just scan the file for errors. If just using that tool doesn't fix the errors properly, you can try simply demultiplexing the file and then re-multiplexing it. Sometimes just doing that gets rid of all the errors (at least the ones detected by the GOP Fixer).
