Hello again,

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, so I apologize if it is the wrong section of the forum.

I'm having some problems with AVICodec. They may be nothing to worry about, but I want to make sure before I do a lot of encoding for a project I'm working on.

First off. I'm using an ADVC-100 and WinDV to capture with, so I'm limited to 720x480. Whenever I look at a captured file, it says Sony Digital Video for the V Codec. I never loaded that one though. I only loaded the Panasonic and Canopus codecs. This may be a small issue though.

Next are the problems that worry me. When I encode to MPEG-2 using the Elementary Stream method in TMPGEnc Plus here is an example of what I get when I look at the file using AVICodec. These files are only a few seconds long, so that is why they are so small.

MPEG 1 (VCD) under the V Codec and the following under File and Video:

File : 5.42 MB (0.0 B), duration: 0:00:00, type: MPG, 0 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %
Video : 5.45 MB, 8000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (16:9), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported.
The two problems here is that I encoded to MPEG-2 and not 1. The other is that I did not set anything to 16:9. Both the source and output aspect ratios are set to 4:3 and the Video Arrange Method is set to Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) in TMPGEnc Plus.

Here is what AVICodec tells me if I encode using the System method in TMPGEnc Plus.
V Codec MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)
File : 5.49 MB (0.0 B), duration: 0:00:00, type: MPG, 0 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %
Video : 5.49 MB, 8000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported.

Again, I didn't set anything to 16:9.

Are these problems inherent with AVICodec? Are they anything to worry about? Thanks.
