    i have this avi file that is a window audio/video file. i can't seem to open up this file anywhere. i tired tmpgenc, virtualdub, and gspot. i want to convert it to a mpeg. thanks.

    you can openit in TMPGEnc, when you're browsing the files, under file types, you need to change it to 'all file types'.

    thanks it open. is there any other way i can extract the audio since virtualdub can't open it. i don't want to use the same file for the audio in tmpgenc b/c i always get a video out of sync with the sound when i do it with this method. thanks.
